I'm a DevOps Engineer currently working at Juxt / Citi Bank, where I help to modernise and migrate legacy infrastructure and applications from VM and bare metal deployments to ECS using DevOps principles and techniques.
In my free time, you can find me rock climbing, cleaning my beautiful Yamaha MT10, or walking and training my menace of a dog, Izzy. Recently, I deployed a HomeLab using VMware, K8s, Ceph, Istio, and ArgoCD, so I’m spending some of my free time tinkering with that.
Passionate and driven about tech, I am currently working on my home lab running on VMware, K8s, Ceph, and Istio. I'm always looking to learn new technologies and strive to stay on top of the constant evolution in tech and the DevOps space. I am currently seeking contract or freelance opportunities.
I am part of a platform team handling several key projects for the equities team. We developed a monitoring solution that consists of Grafana, Grafana Mimir, and Splunk. This enabled us to decommission the existing service that was running on VMs. We were the first in the team to implement Helm charts for running apps on ECS. This helps with versioning releases into ECS, as well as rollback and general procedures that the team may need to run. Currently, we are working on migrating all legacy services running on bare metal and VMs into ECS, containerising them to help manage their applications in the future.
Designed, implemented, and led a team to carry out a technical transformation for the publishing systems team. This included creating an entirely new workflow for developers, allowing them to have feature environments in which to test code changes. I also created a CI/CD pipeline for the whole team to expand upon, enabling them to deploy into each environment in a controlled and repeatable way. This was a significant challenge, as the team had never used these practices before, and deployment times were reduced from one day to one hour, from nothing to fully running.
Worked in a small team of two to implement a group-wide tagging policy for AWS resources, enabling a better view of costs on AWS infrastructure for each application owner. This was done by upgrading all customers' code and deployment methods to include these tags. This could have involved adding the tags to Terraform or CloudFormation, or manually updating tags where no automation was in place.
My first project was to help a medical client implement a CI/CD pipeline in Azure DevOps using Terraform and Azure resources to implement an IAM solution with Auth0. The second project involved implementing an end-to-end IAM and secrets management solution for an airline group. We built this solution using GitLab CI, Terraform, AWS, CyberArk, and Ping. This solution will be used across the entire airline group, providing them with a scalable solution for the future of the business.
Below is a little snapshot of some of my skills
